Mrs. Mary Horn

Mrs. Mary Francis Horn, 75, lifelong resident of Danville, died June 27 at the Yell County Hospital. She was the widow of the late Jessie L. Horn and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sons, Jake of Nimrod, Elwin of Manila, John L. and David B. of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Wyckoff, Mrs. Julia Maka, Mrs. Rena Dell French and Mrs. Rebecca Paulas, all of Chicago; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Danville Church of Christ by Carl Thompson. Burial was in the Earl E. Ladd Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Ollie C. Horn


Mrs. Ollie Clifford Horn, 83, resident of near Belleville, died at the hospital in Danville Thursday, October 11.

She was a native of Chickalah Mountain community and the daughter of Charlie and Amanda Holmes Rutledge. Mrs. Horn was the widow of James R. Horn. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Murphy and Dennis of Chickalah Mountain, Cleason of Amarillo, Texas, Vernie of Fort Smith and Alvie of Toledo, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Pickens of Santa Paula, Calif., Mrs. Naomi Cowger of Chickalah and Mrs. Dorothy Walters of Arcata, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Margaret Anderson of Wewoka, Okla,; 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Verl Horn

Verl Vernon Horn, age 58, of Harrison, died Monday, October 24 at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. Mr. Horn was a retired cook. He was a native of Chickalah Mountain and was a son of the late A.G. and Alice Joiner Horn. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Stephanie Horn; one son, Arlon Horn of Taylor; one step-son, C.L. Clayborn of Van Buren; three brothers, Calvin Horn and Herbert Horn, both of Wewoka, Okla., and Lee Horn of Anchorage, Alaska; two o, Mrs. Lille Suggs of Chickalah Mountain and Mrs. Ethel Spicer of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Chickalah Mountain Springs Church Wednesday with Rev. Archie Butts, Baptist Minister of Little Rock and Rev. Kenneth Gibson, Missionary Baptist Minister of Russellville conducting the service. Burial was at Mountain Springs Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Services.

Mrs. Yuwa Lida Horn, 56, of Little Rock, wife of Bobby E. Horn, died Thursday, July 12, in a Little Rock Hospital.

Mrs. Horn was a homemaker and a Buddhist.

Survivors other than her husband are one brother and two sisters, all of Japan.

Graveside services were Saturday, July 14, at the Earl Ladd Cemetery in Danville with burial in Ladd Cemetery.

Anita Kay Hornback

Anita Kay Hornback age 69 of Perryville died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1944 at Amarillo, TX to the late Albert and Aline Merchison Mincher. She was a member of the Birta Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cross stitch things for family members and doing crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ann Taylor.

Survivors include two sisters, Jane Goodson and husband John of Ola, Wanda Bradshaw and husband Gayle of Huntsville, TX and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Birta Cemetery with Bro. Randell Gilbert officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Goodson, Gary Harken, Jim Bowden, Jerry Dillahunty, Hugh Eldridge.

Grace Evelyn Johnson Hoskins

Grace Evelyn Johnson Hoskins, age 86, of Danville, Arkansas, formerly of Tucumcari, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville.

Grace was born September 30, 1929, in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas, to the late William Oscar "Ott" and Allie Lee "Jack" Flemings Johnson. She married Albert C. Hoskins on November 16, 1949, and he remained the love of her life until his death on February 21, 2002.

In her early years, Grace worked as a waitress and manager of Lynn's Cafe in Tucumcari and later worked at the infamous Pow Wow for many years. Albert and Grace, along with Albert's brother Butch and Butch's wife Helen, co-owned and managed Hoskins Elk Lodge in Tres Ritos, New Mexico, where she mothered nearly all of her nieces and nephews, along with a host of kids from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Arkansas who annually visited the lodge.

Grace and Albert were avid fishermen, having fished all over the United States. Grace was also the ultimate cook. Her Mexican dishes were unmatched, especially her homemade tamales and salsas. During the holiday season, her friends would always request that she bake her cinnamon rolls, pies and coconut cake. Today she would have her own cooking show. She was also uniquely skilled in sewing, knitting and crafting. Albert always said that his Grace was probably the most self-sufficient woman on earth. He said that she could hunt, fish, repair almost anything and was a great businesswoman. She moved to Arkansas in 2007 to live with her niece, Carolyn, and became an avid Razorback fan.

Grace is preceded in death by her beloved Albert, their daughter, Jolene Hoskins, a sister, Ada Beth Odom and her parents.

Survivors include a host of nephews, nieces and friends that she and Albert adopted over the many years of their lives.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 14th, at Springer Cemetery, Springer, New Mexico.

Peggy Hottinger

Peggy Hottinger, 86, of Ola, AR, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR.

The daughter of Jess and Lula McClain Hottinger, she was born December 4, 1924 in Dover, Ar. She was a Teacher at the Ft. Smith and Ola School districts for 40 years. After she was retired from teaching full time she still utilized her knowledge for education as a substitute teacher. Peggy was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Ola Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother and sister-in-law Charley and Vanna Hottinger.

She is survived by her niece, Mandy Buford & husband Ray of Ola; her nephew, Jeff Hottinger & wife Kim of Ozark; six great nieces; one great nephew; two great-great nieces; and one great-great nephew.

Funeral was Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Ola Church of Christ. Brother Alex Diestelcamp officiated. Burial was at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Mrs. Rose Ana Hottinger, age 91, of Russellville died Sept. 9. She was the widow of C. J. Hottinger and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include five sons, Jess Hottinger of Ola, Claude and Phillip Hottinger, both of Dover, Albert Hottinger of Illinois and Lester Hottinger of Russellville; five daughters, Mrs. Eddie Jones of California, Mrs. Ode McGee of Oklahoma, Mrs. Cecil Fowler of Mississippi and Mrs. Luther Johnson and Mrs. Otto Brinkman, both of Russellville; two brothers, Sid Moore of Kansas and Sam Moore of London; one sister, Mrs. Eva Harwell of California; 42 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were September 12 at Dover Church of Christ and burial was in North New Hope Cemetery.

He was a native of Yell County and had lived there most of his life until moving to Lamar six years ago. He was a retired abstractor.

Funeral services for Ben Housley, 69, who died in his home near Havana, Friday morning, February 13, after a short illness, was conducted Saturday afternoon in the Prarie View Cemetery, east of Paris, with the Rev. Richard Root, pastor of the Scranton Baptist Church officiating.

Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Grover Jones and Mrs. Jim Turner, both of Scranton; four sons, Lonnie of Montana, Murl of the home, Howard, Oklahoma City, and John Lee, Ft. Ord, California.
