James Richard Hood

Mr. James Richard Hood, born in Woodruff Co., Ark. in 1868, died at his home at Moore's Chapel, Dec 22, 1939, and was buried Dec. 24.

Survivors are: his wife, Rebecca, Geo. Hood, Texarkana; O.B. Hood, Little Rock; Mrs. Horace Poplin, Danville; Roy Hood, Booneville; Jeff and Hobert Hood, Portersville, Calif., Mrs. Howard Wells, Mrs. Emma Emmerson and Mrs. Willie Williams, Moore's Chapel community.

The body was laid to rest under direction of Smith Funeral Home, Danville.

Pall bearers were: Oscar Yandell, G.W. Caps. Ike Grist, L.H. Hicks, Dee Catlett and Joe Flowers.

Jerry Wayne Hood

Jerry Wayne Hood, 71, of Roland went to be with the Lord October 8, 2018. He was born on June 4, 1947 in Belleville, Arkansas to Artie and Mildred Hood. Jerry lived by the rule of treating everyone like he wanted to be treated. He never met a stranger, loved helping, being around people witnessing to others. He had been the owner of Jerry's Barber Shop in the Heights for the past 52 years. Jerry was a lay minister for the Arkansas Prison System, served on the board of Little Rock Compassion Center and worked on the FBI Citizens Academy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters; Lou Ann Hood Hand, Melinda Hood Borquet, two brothers; Doyle Edward Hood, Sr. and Forrest Hood.

Jerry is survived by his wife; Marie, one daughter; Kim Inklwbarger, two sons-in-law; Mike Borquet, Jeff Hand, three sisters-in-law; Clara Hood, Kaye Hood, Gladys Hood, seven grandchildren and a host of loving great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 pm Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, visitation will follow from 5-7 pm in the Garden Room.

Jerry Wayne Hood

Joe Hood

Joe Dean Hood, 75, of Havana, Arkansas, passed from this life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in his home in Havana, Arkansas. He was born September 4, 1943 in Havana, Arkansas to the late Arless Winford and Lillian Juanita (Garner) Hood.

He was a farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ in Havana, Arkansas. He was Vietnam army veteran.

He is preceded in death [by] a brother, Arless Don Hood and his parents before mentioned. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M.. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Church of Christ in Havana, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Hood of the home; two sons, Robert Hood (Margie) of Booneville and Wren Hood (Rue) of Ione, Arkansas; 2 daughters, Tammy Braden (Jeff) of Belleville and Vicky Ferguson (Kevin) of Danville; 1 sister, Emma Turley (Roger) of Havana, Arkansas; 1 sister-in-law, Phyllis Hood of Havana; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Derek, Savannah, Taylor M., Jacob Taylor C., Tiffany, Jazmen, Skyla, Alaina, Bryer, and Brianna; 11 great grandchildren.

Dane Hood

Ledane "Dane" Hood, a 60 year resident of Mountain View, CA passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2011.

Beloved husband of 51 years of Nancy L. Hood. Loving father of Ron Hood. Brother of Earline Pruitt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

Dane loved life and people and will be missed by all who knew him. A native of Havana, AR, age 75 years.

Funeral services for N. L. Hood, 66, were conducted at Moore's Chapel Wednesday afternoon, by Rev. Mr. Buck of Ratcliff.

Mr. Hood was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by two sons, Hoyt and Coy of the home and three daughters, Bell and Lula Flowers of Moore's Chapel, and Arizona Sapley of Ponca City, Oklahoma, two brothers and one sister. Pall bearers were: Pete Collins, Arnold Bass, Cornill Nolia, Herbert Chappel, John Miller and Henry Miller.

Burial was in Moore's Chapel cemetery with Smith Funeral Home of Danville in charge.

Funeral for Ollie H. (Doc) Hood, 68, of Little Rock, who died Saturday in a Little Rock hospital was Monday in the Griffin-Leggett Chapel by Rev. Edward B. Hollenbeck. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

He was office manager of the auditorial division of the State Revenue Department. He was a Methodist and past master of F. and A. M. No. 41 of Danville.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ester (Scisson) Hood of Little Rock; one son, Harmon Hood of Little Rock; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Whitley of Little Rock; two brothers, Hobert Hood and Jeff Hood of Porterville, Calif.; Mrs. Berta Williams of Mountain View, Calif., and three grandchildren.

Jack Wilbur Hopkins

Jack Wilbur Hopkins, 82 of Van Buren passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 in his home. He was retired United States Army military and then a shipping clerk for Gould Battery Company in Fort Smith. He served four tours in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Nobie (Davis) Hopkins.

Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery with military honors in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Hopkins of the home; two sons Jacky Lynn Hopkins of Dardanelle, AR and John W. Hopkins of Van Buren; two brothers Bernard Smith of Camden, AR and Ray Dean Magsby of Englewood, Florida; two grandchildren Jessica Lynn Harrison of Little Rock and Joshua Kyle Hopkins of Dardanelle; some cousins and uncles.

Family visited with relatives and friends Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, 700 Jefferson Street.

Pallbearers were Shane Boyd, Tim Arnold, Danny Fight, Johnny Moore, Joshua Hopkins and Brian Brewer.

Mrs. Winnie Hopkins

Mrs. Winnie Whitlow Hopkins, age 68, of near Centerville died at the Danville Hospital Nov. 17. She was a native of Danville, a daughter of the late Walter and Florence Wodlow Whitlow. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband John Lester Hopkins; one son Elton Othell Hopkins of Mt. Tabor; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Holt of Little Rock and Mrs. Lola McElroy of Danville; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at the Cornwell Chapel at Dardanelle Friday at 4:00 p.m. with Kenneth Gibson and Robert Coffey, Missionary Baptist Elders, officiating. Burial was at Petillo Hill Cemetery.
