Funeral Services for Michael "Hammerdown" Cates, 60, of Lakeveiw, Arkansas will be 2 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas with Sky Pilot and Uncle Sam officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Bonde, Gyspy, Big D, Smiley, Manny, and Road Kill. Visitation will be from 12 PM until time of service. Michael took his last ride March 12, 2013, at his home.

Michael was born October 5, 1952, at Danville, AR to Joe Cates and Joyce Boviea Cates Moore. Michael "Hammerdown" married Mary Crites July 23, 2011 at Chrome on the Creek in Missouri. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the trucking industry and owned his own shop in New Blaine, AR before retiring to Lakeview, Arkansas to ride his motorcycle and enjoy the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Hammerdown was a man of honor who believed that a good life was a happy life. He lived for his motorcycle club, The Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club and riding his Harley.

Michael is survived by his wife Mary Cates-Daugherty of Lakeview, AR; daughter, Patty Heizer (Jeffery) of CO; grandson, Dustin of CO and granddaughter, Samantha Heizer of CO; father, Joe Cates (Jane) of AZ; brother, Danny Cates of AZ; sister, Becky Moody of OH: and many aunts, uncles, nieces, friends and friends.

Ruby Laverne Cates

Ruby Laverne Cates, age 84, of Danville passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.

She was born April 16, 1932, in Danville, to the late Jim Tom & Emmie Mae Horn Noblett. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Leroy Cates; brothers, Tommy Junior Noblett and Opal Glenn Noblett.

Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy Evans of Judsonia; Helen & Dal Young of Bella Vista; Linda & James Baisdon of Alaska; brothers, James & Barbara Noblett of Hot Spring; Billy Don & Barbara Noblett of North Little Rock; Larry Wayne & Sue Noblett of Dardanelle; Roger & Darlene Noblett of Dardanelle; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held at 10 am February 17, 2017, at the Danville Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Vosburg officiating.

Burial was at Earl Ladd Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, February 16, at tne funeral home.

Pallbearers included Dal Young, Chris Young, Chuck Kitchens, Brennan Kitchens, Cole Kitchens, and Stacey Noblett.

Billy Cates

William Edward "Billy" Cates age 29 of Rover, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2013.

He was born on June 12, 1983 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He is survived by his parents, David and Brenda Cates of Rover; a new born son, Joel David Cates, mother of his son Jessica Schlea of Rover; a half brother and sister, Justin and Tracey Cates of Neely, Mississippi; grandmother, Sally Brown of Perryville and many other family and friends.

Service was at the Rover Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ellis officiating. Burial was at Hunts Chapel Cemetery in Rover.

Pallbearers included Clifton Young, Mark Ellison, Matt Irons, Randy Anderson, Kippy Irons and Jason Simington.

Honorary pallbearers include Mac Bowen and Neal Anderson.

Mrs. Ellen Cathey

Mrs. Ellen Cathey, aged 94, of Rover died Monday. She was the widow of William Henry Cathey.

Survivors include two sons, William Cathey of California and Owen Cathey of Huntsville; three daughters, Mrs. A.H. Peck of Rover, Mrs. Coy Dildy and Mrs. Elmer Barry, both of El Dorado; and one half-sister, Mrs. Omer Fuller of Glenwood.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Rover Baptist Church. Burial was at Hunt's Chapel Cemetery near Rover.

Pvt. Hays Cathey, of Ola, Killed In Action

Pvt. Hays Cathey, son of Mrs. Carley E. Cathey, Ola, was killed in action in Italy September 13, his mother has been informed by the War Department. Private Cathey enlisted in November, 1942, went overseas in June, 1943.

Private Cathey's company was the first to set foot on Sicilian soil during that invasion. In a special press dispatch from Messina he was quoted as leaning his rifle against a wall, unhooking his pack from his tired shoulders, and looking over Messina's remains to remark: "Well, that's all. There ain't any more." He was credited by Don Whitehead, Associated Press correspondent, of being the first soldier to enter the city.

Besides the mother of Private Cathey, there survive four brothers, Milburn, of Camp Roberts, Calif.; Williocs, farmer; Thomas Waye and Raymond Glen Cathey, of Ola; five sisters, Mrs. Virgie Cochran, Mountain Home; Mrs. Pauling Pelt, Ola; Mrs. Cerline Williams, 915 North Little Rock; Leola and Bonnie Cathey, at home in Ola.

Mrs. Mary Cathey, aged 85, of Rover died Sunday. She was the widow of James Walker Cathey and a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Everett and Lee Cathey of New Mexico; two daughters, Miss Eva Cathey of the home and Mrs. Grace Albright of Texas, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at the Rover Baptist Church. Burial was at Rover Cemetery.

Nickalus John "Bubba" Cathey

Nickalus John "Bubba" Cathey, age 33, of Dardanelle died Friday, November 13, 2015 at River Valley Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1982 to Nickey Howard and Patricia Lynn Nutt Cathey. He loved hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and spending time with his kids.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John H. Cathey, Don Nutt, Jo Linda Donathan, and a sister-in-law, Brenda Lewis.

Bubba was a good carpenter and even as a child loved building things. He worked on his family's farm for many years. He was happiest being outdoors in God's creation. Bubba loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was greatly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Cathey of Dardanelle; his parents, Nick and Pat Cathey of Dardanelle; three children, Summer, Cody, and Landon Cathey all of Dardanelle; one sister, Ashley Hobby (Kevin) of Russellville; one brother, Chris Faubber of Dardanelle; grandparents, Maggie and Tom Sullivan; two aunts Kay Hale (Roy) and Johnnie Cathey; his uncle Alan Cathey (Angie); and numerous nephews and nieces.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 16, 2015 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville with Bro. Robbie Harrison officiating Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.

Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home Dardanelle.

Thomas Cathey

DANVILLE - Thomas Wayne Cathey, 67, of Ola died Monday, Aug. 2, at his home.

Born Dec. 18, 1931, at Rover to the late Thomas Steele and Corley Green Cathey, he was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8525 in Plainview. He was a retired construction worker and a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Willious Cathey of Ola; two sisters, Pauline Pelt of Dardanelle and Lee Tyler of Hollis; and several nephews and nieces.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 5, at the New Bethel Cemetery in Plainview by Cornwell Euneral Home with the Rev. Brad Rnkinbinder officiating.

Mrs. Florence Taylor Catlett, age 59, of Danville, died last Wednesday evening, March 12, at a Yell County hospital. Mrs. Catlett was a retired housewife, a native of Cedar Creek, a daughter of the late Joe and Hattie Tapp Taylor and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband, Doc Catlett of the home; four sons, J. D. Catlett of Rover, Otho Catlett of North Little Rock, Herbert Catlett and Ledean Catlett, both of Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Verzen Bell of Havana, and Mrs. Imagale Hunt of Danville; two brothers, Alva Taylor of California and Arry Taylor of Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Allen of Magazine and Mrs. Vera Ross of Oklahoma and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Havana Assembly of God Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. E. O. Tackett, pastor of the Havana Assembly of God Church. Interment was at the Moore's Chapel Cemetery near Waveland.
