Tarin Renay Underwood, age 20, of Dardanelle died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her home.

She was born October 17, 1990 at Russellville to Kenneth and Karen Harris Ford. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a 2009 graduate of Dardanelle High School where she was a member of the yearbook staff.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willard and Wanez Harris.

Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Karen Ford of Dardanelle; two brothers, Zach Underwood and Nathaniel Ford of Dardanelle; paternal grandparents, Thaddeus and Walterine Ford of Carthage, MS; four aunts; three uncles; several cousins and many, many friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Kenneth Ford, Zach Underwood, Nathaniel Ford, Nick George, Jason Neeley, Dillon Crabb.

Honorary Pallbearers: Dr. Allan Kirkland and Staff, Chambers Home Health.

Verlon Louella Underwood

Verlon Louella Underwood, 98, a resident of Morrilton, formerly of Ola, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Conway Regional Medical Center.

She was born January 11, 1918, at Ola to Ozie Lee and Claudia Elizabeth Cossey Underwood. She was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Ola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leroy Underwood and his infant twin; and a sister, Oler Johnston.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Sherman "Sonny" Durham of Morrilton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Dana and John Ellison of Knoxville, Tennessee and Delores and Greg Fairchild of Maumelle; five great-grand- children and their spouses, Jon Curtis and Jennifer Ellison of Nashville, Tennessee, Ashley Renee and Joshua Stokes of Claremorc, Oklahoma, Emily and Robert Sheridan of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Jonathan and Kalyn Ellison of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Joseph Ellison of Nashville, Tennessee; nine great-great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Logan, Evan and Gavin Stokes, Braden Lewellyn, Everett and Asher Sheridan and Taylor and Dalton Ellison; and other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will conduct a memorial service at a later date.

She was born November 12, 1922, in Dallas Texas to the late Homer Clifton "H.C." & Flora Eunice Andrews Minnis. Vivian was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, a member of the choir, and the Spring Creek E.H. Club. She was a mother and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John V. Gibson Jr. and O.A. "Buzz" Underwood; son, James Claude Gibson; brothers, James McCoy Minnis and William Karl Minnis.

Survivors include her son & daughters-in-law, John & Nan Gibson of Morrilton; Eva Jane Gibson of Danville; grandchildren, James Claude Gibson Jr of Danville; Clifton "Mack" Gibson (Crissy) of Conway; John & Lori Gibson of Houston, TX.; Johnette & Shawn Socha of Morrilton; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. George F. Upton Jr., aged 58, of Dardanelle, died Sunday. He was a native of Dardanelle and formerly associate editor for 25 years of the Dardanelle Post-Dispatch, a weekly newspaper that was formerly owned by his father, George F. Upton Sr. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and had served on the Official Board of the Church. He was a Mason, a Rotarian, the American Legion and a veteran of World War II.

Besides his father, survivors include his mother and two brothers, Robert Upton of Dardanelle and Eldridge Upton of California. Funeral services were by Cornwell Funeral Service.

George Upton Sr.

George F. Upton Sr., aged 89, of Dardanelle, former editor and owner of the Dardanelle Post-Dispatch for over 50 years, died on Tuesday.

Mr. Upton served as mayor of Dardanelle for two years and was on the School Board for 12 years. He was a Methodist, a Mason, a member of the Lions Club and the Yell County Chapter of the Red Cross. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janella Lemoyne Upton; and two sons, Eldridge and Robert Upton, both of Dardanelle.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dardanelle. Burial will be at Brearley Cemetery.

She was born March 29, 1923 in Ratcliff to William Mose and Nellie Coffman Hodge. She attended the Believers Fellowship at Belleville.

Survivors include two sons, William Mose and Earl Lee Ussery; five daughters, Wanda Boyer, Betty Edwards, Bonnie O'Bar, Shirley Robison and Kathy James; a brother; two sisters; 25 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 pm Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Shinn Chapel with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery near Atkins by Shinn Funeral Service.

Funeral services for Melba "Mammie" Alice Culp Van Voast, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bright officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen, is in charge of arrangements.

Voast died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in De Queen. She was born June 23, 1926, in De Queen to James and Alice Billingsley Culp. She was a member of the Geneva Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Homer, Harley and Jim (Buck) Culp; two sisters, Inell McClenahan and Madge Dunn; and one grandson, Charles (Chuck) Nevels.

Survivors include her husband, Philip Van Voast; one son, David Fenton of Montgomery, Texas; three daughters, Nelda Kyger of Franklin, N.C., Jimmie Ann Shelton of Haworth and Phyllis Barrington of Mena, Ark.; one brother, Kenneth Culp of De Queen; one sister, Roxa Casteel of New Castle, Texas; ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sevier County 4-H fund.
