William Swint

William W. Swint, 67, of Benton, brother of Mrs. Oresta Foster of Havana and Norbett Swint of Danville, died Monday, April 1.

He was a retired machine operator and was a Methodist.

Survivors also include his wife, two daughters, three other brothers, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Chapel in Benton. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery.

Edna May Swor


Edna May Swor, 96, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2006, in Chico, Calif.

Mrs. Swor was born in the family home in Belleville, Ark., on July 6, 1909, to Gerald and Ethel Thomson. She received her education in Belleville and as a high school student was offered a music scholarship after winning a statewide piano competition. However, she chose to marry Elzy T. Swor on Nov. 25, 1926.

In 1934, Elzy and Edna moved to Somis, Calif., and later to Ventura. With a growing family, Edna supplemented their income by packing oranges and lemons and working as a semstress in a sport clothing factory from which she retired. Elzy and Edna were active members of the Ventura Assembly of God church for many years.

Edna enjoyed amily gatherings, visiting friends, sewing, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling, and watching her sons and grandsons play ball. She made many Raggedy Ann dolls for family and friends.

Mrs. Swor was a resident of Ventura for 65 years before moving to Orland, Calif., to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a devoted, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her sense of humor, laughter, friendly smiles, and big hugs for everyone, with a quiet "God bless you," will be missed by all who knew her.

An infant son, Elzy T. Jr., and husband Elzy preceded her in death.

Mrs. Swor's survivors are her sons Bill and his wife, Neila, of Canby, Ore., Don and his wife, Shirley, of Ventura; daughter, Anna Porter, and her husband, Wally, of Orland, Calif.; her extended family, Mason and Caroline Parish of Ventura; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Elena Elliott of Camarillow; sisters-in-law, Ina Thompson of Camarillo and Norine Adair of Oxnard; and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., also, at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Roy Syler

Roy Syler, age 28 of Perryville, died Sunday, September 18. He was a carpenter, a native of Waldron, and the son of Robert Syler of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Willodean James of Nola.

Survivors include, other than his parents, his wife, Mrs. Karen Mitchell Syler, and one daughter, Miss Patricia Lynn Syler of the home; one brother, Roscoe Wagner of Mountain Pine; two step-brothers, Glenn James of Dardanelle and Garry James of Gravelly; one step-sister, Mrs. Katy Collins of Texas; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eloise Fowler of Nola.

Funeral services were held at the Nola Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 with Jerry Almond and Owen Hunnicutt officiating.

Interment was in the Parks Cemetery.

Casket Bearers were Larry Mitchell, Ray Rhodes, Roy Wagner, Royce Fowler, Gerold Stove, and Dester Billingsley.

Arrangements and services were in care of the Cornwell Funeral Service.

SANDY MICHELLE SYLER

Sandy Michelle Syler of Perryville, infant daughter of Roy and Darlene Mitchell Syler, died in the St. Vincent Hospital July 28.

Besides her parents she is survived by one sister, Patrica Lyenn; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil James of Danville and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Mitchell of Gravelly.

Graveside services were at the Parks Cemetery near Gravelly, Wednesday morning at 10:00 with Rev. W. O. Hunnicutt officiating.

Services and arrangements were in care of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.

Tommy Rackley Tackett, 65, of Farmington, previously of Atkins, passed away July 13, 2018 at his home. He was born January 1, 1953 to Alvis and Nina (Rackley) Tackett in Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, T.L. and Walsie Tackett, Rev. Bob and Nettie Tackett.

He is survived by his sister, Janet Tackett Thessing and husband Mark, Atkins; nephew, Steven Thessing and family, Ft. Kimberly Diane (Balkenbush) Taff of Lamar, Arkansas went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 29, 2012.

Kimberly was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on January 4, 1976. She grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended Putnam City Schools and graduated from Waldron High School. She had recently started back to college and was pursuing her college degree.

Kimberly leaves behind to cherish her memory, two special girls, Kurstin Diane and Lillian Marie; husband William of the home; parents Trish and Roger Farrell of Edmond, OK; grandparents Wayne and Ethel Horn of Waldron, AR, Joe and Sally Balkenbush of Choctaw, OK and Anita Jeffery of Waldron, AR; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Kimberly was preceded in death by Jim Balkenbush and Charles Jeffery, Jr.

Service was June 2, 2012 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas, with Rev. Marvin Fredrick officiating. Interment was in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery east of Waldron, Arkansas.

Betty Talley

Betty Louise Cossey Talley age 73 of Dardanelle went to be with her Lord on her birthday, February 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. Talley; an infant daughter; her parents, Perry and Bula Cossey; one brother, Jimmy Cossey.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Brenda and son-in-law Harold Abercrombie of Dardanelle; one son, Danny Ray Talley of Dardanelle; one sister, Joyce Cossey Martin of Dardanelle; two brothers, David and Freda Cossey of Dardanelle, Lonnie C. and Barbara Kendrick of Knoxville; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews and many precious friends.

Betty was a Christian home maker, wife, mother and was employed by Tyson for 30 years in Dardanelle. She attended Amazing Grace Pentecostal Church of God in Dardanelle.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00A.M., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Amazing Grace Pentecostal Church of God in Dardanelle with Rev. Johnny Whorton officiating.

Ethel Lee Talley, age 73, of Plainview died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center.

She was born January 6, 1939 at Shawnee, Ok to the late Ellwood and Lorine Michna Flood.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Talley of Plainview; a son, James and Phylis Hadley of Oklahoma City, OK; step daughter and son-in-law, Donice and Gene Warner of Lonoke; stepson, Butch and Lynn Talley of North Carolina; sister and brother-in- law, Mary Lou and Ray Coppin of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a step granddaughter and many other family members.

Family will hold a Memorial Service at a later date.

Martha "Fritz" Talley


Martha Jean "Fritz" Carter Talley age 86 of Dardanelle died Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born January 16, 1927 in Little Rock to the late Dr. John L. Carter and Lena Loretta Masters Carter.

She graduated Little Rock Senior High School (now Central) in 1944, then attended Little Rock Junior College from 1944-46, and graduated from Ouachita Baptist College (now University) in 1948. She was a teacher for Mabelvale and Pine Bluff Schools, Draughon's School of Business, and Lion's World Services for the Blind. She was a member of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church. She loved her family, Mt. Nebo, genealogy and going to the Dardanelle Senior Activity Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nevath Vengimon Talley; sisters, Edith Modean Carter Hardage, Mary Sue Carter Payne, Helen Carter and Annette Carter "Peanut" Waters.

Survivors include her children, Loretta Talley Stehle and husband David of Benton, Sam Talley of Lonoke, Helen Talley Palacio of Fort Smith, Jonelle Talley Fulmer and husband Dane of Fort Smith, Martin Talley and wife Jo of Lonoke; one sister, Ruth Carter "Doty" Brooks of Texas; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and Lee Ann Stehle of Benton, Jonathan Stehle of Benton, David and Ali Parker of Georgia, Joshua and Cassandra Parker of Fort Smith, Zachary Parker of Russellville, Rachael and Robbie Woodall of Fort Smith, Chances Palacio of Fort Smith, Thomas and Chloe Fulmer of Virginia, Lucas Fulmer of Colorado; seven great grandchildren, Luke and Joelle Stehle, Makinzey, David and Noah Woodall, William Fulmer and Riley Parker.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to First Baptist Church or the Dardanelle Senior Activity Center.

Zane Burton Talley

Zane Burton Talley, age 61, of Danville passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

He was born December 27, 1955, in Alhambra, California to the late James O. & Joyce Burton Talley. He was a cabinet builder and musician. He loved his family and music. Zane was the keyboard player for the Midwestern Playboys Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
