Tavake Poti, age 71, of Havana passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at Arkansas Heart Hospital.

He was born September 14, 1945, in America Samoa to the late Poti & Puava Poti.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Itania Poti.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Leda Earls Poti; children, Jody Carlson of Havana; Tina Kamely; Shari Briggs; Chris Kamely all of Oregon; siblings, Inosia, Semu, Pou, and Taa.

A celebration of his life was held at 9:00 am Sunday, May 21, at his home.

Billy T. Potter Sr.

Billy T. Potter Sr., 76 of Plainview, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Vincent's in Little Rock. He was born June 6, 1939 in Bluffton, Arkansas to the late Verlon E. and Everlee Armstrong Potter. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Billy Potter Jr.

Survivors include three daughters, Kelly Millwood (Larry) of Pottsville; LeNita Denney (Randy) of Oxford, Mississippi; Stacie LeMaster (Dwayne Freeman) of Camden, brother, Donald Potter (Debbie) of Kingston; sister, Patricia Miller (Thomas) Kingston; grandchildren, Michael Millwood, Matthew Millwood, Ryne Millwood (Jessyca), Whitney (Millwood) Davis (James), Meghan Mills (Zack), Rachell Denney, Kelsey (Potter) Leach (Cory), Colton Dishongh, and Casey Dishongh; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Millwood, Matthew Millwood, Ryne Millwood, James Davis, Zack Mills, Colton Dishongh, Casey Dishongh and Cory Leach. Honorary will be Lynn Patterson, Tommy Yates, Paul Miller, Michael Potter, Bobby Ray Potter, Wesley Potter, Charles Falwell Jr., Matthew Miller.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12th at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Wing. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Briggsville. Visitation was Monday 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doyce Potter

Doyce "Doc" W. Potter, age 93, of Bluffton died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 15, 1918 at Aly to the late Rash William and Liller Gabbart Potter. He served in the Military in WWII in Europe as a Medical Ambulance Driver, was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bluffton, AR from age of 14, a member of the Cattleman's Association and a member of the Bluffton Volunteer Fire Department. He was employed at Wayne Farms in Danville for many years, after his retirement he was employed with the Forest Service. He was also a lifelong farmer and an original cowboy. He was involved in many Community Associations and he was a beloved member of the Fourche Valley Community which came together to build him a new family home when his was destroyed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mariam Gail Potter; brothers and sisters, Ereshel Potter, Hazel Potter Lazenby, Earl Potter, Ivory Potter, Vestie Potter and Ina Potter Telaar.

Survivors include wife, Violet Irleen Potter "Butterfly" of Bluffton; a son, Douglas Lyle Potter; daughter-in-law, Katrina Bromley Potter; granddaughter, Kyrie Alice Potter all of Fayetteville and a brother, Verlon Potter of Kingston.

Funeral service was January 18, 2012 at the Bluffton United Methodist Church with Pastor Osolin officiating. Burial was in Bluffton Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Bud Potter, Wayne Rhoades, Harry Rhoades, Lynn Cullins, Jim Roberson, Billy Lofland. Honorary pallbearers: Larry Aikman, Farris Jones.

Mrs. Evelyn Riddle Potter, age 67, of Star Route, Plainview, died Saturday morning, May 22, in the St. Vincents Hospital in Little Rock. Mrs. Potter was born in Summerfield, OK, daughter of the late Cleve and Bertha Mae Smith Riddle. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Church of Birta.

Survivors include, Her husband, Roger Potter of the home; one son, David Hicks of California, two step-sons, Charles Potter of Texas and Stephen Potter of Calf.; two step-daughters, Mary Louise Ullizzi and Ruth Marie Gueal both of California; two brothers Luther Riddle of Danville and Bennie Williams of Waldron, one sister, Geneva Kitchens of Conway, 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 25th, in the Bethelhem Missionary Baptist church at Earl, with Rev. Jon Holbrook officiating. Internment was in the Birta Cemetery.

Services and care by Cornwell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers Were Dale McCoy, Don McCoy, Herman Even, Giles McVay and Virgil Lewis.

James Clayton Potter

James Clayton Potter passed away November 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born April 20, 1954, in Aly, Arkansas to Otto and Verl Potter.

James took pride in working hard, from his years as a truck driver to becoming a business owner. In all the miles he traveled for work, he never met a stranger that didn't become his friend. James loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, collecting rocks and his Little Debbie snack cakes. But most of all he loved his family and his greatest joy was his kids and grandkids. (And of course, his Jeep)

James is survived by his long time love, Gail. His children, Michelle Jones and husband Scott of Exeter, California; James W. Potter of Ranger, Arkansas; Grace Cochran of Fort Bragg, California. Grandkids, Samantha Jones, Ashley Jones, Clayton Potter, Aurora Bazor, Charii Jones, Violet Bazor, Melody Bazor, and Marshall Potter. Siblings, Vanita Spears, Nadean Jones, Jearldena Tarkinton, and Carney Potter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Verl Potter, sibling, Doris Clemmons and Jerry Whitworth.

A celebration of life will be held at the Aly Fire Station November 30th at 11:00 am.

Roger Potter

Roger Kelly Potter, 75, of Birta died Thursday, September 6, 1990 at his home. He was born in Springfield, OH on June 20, 1915 and spent his childhood in Ocala, FL. As an adult, he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He later worked as a truck driver for Associated Freight Lines in Los Angeles, CA. He retired in Plainview, AR and moved to Birta in 1966 where he has farmed until the present time. He was a life member of Teamster Local 224 of Los Angeles, CA and a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Birta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Riddle Potter.

Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Potter of Texas and Steve D. Potter of California; two daughters, Mary Pollizzi of Birta and Marie Gaul of California; one step-son, David Hicks of California; one brother Walter Potter of Mississippi; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchidren.

Funeral services were Saturday at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta by Bro. Jon Holbrook and Bro. John Mann. Interment was in Birta Cemetery by Dixon Funeral Home of Danville.

Pallbearers: active - Sammy George, Giles McVey, Dale McCoy, Don McCoy, Virgil Lewis, Hartsell Lewis and Bruce Hughes; Honorary Wayne Henson, Marlin George, James Riley, James Bowden and Jesse Harrell.

Memorials may be made to Church Missionary Fund for Jose Vasquez.

He was born January 23, 1915 in Aly, Arkansas to the late William Rash & Liller Arminda Gabbert Potter. He loved to raise a large garden, raise claves and going to the sale barn.

He was preceded in death by his wife Everlee Armstrong Potter; parents; brothers Earl, Vestie, Doyce and Ivory Potter; sisters Hazel Lazenby and Ina Teller; grandsons Billy Potter Jr. and Timothy Potter.

Survivors include his children & spouses, Bill Potter of Plainview; Donald & Debbie Potter of Kingston Community; Patricia &Thomas Miller of Kingston Community; grandchildren & spouses Kelly & Larry Millwood; Michael Potter; LaNita & Randy Denney; Charles Falwell; Belinda Alvarado; Stacie LaMaster; Matthew Miller; Wesley Potter; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was April 13, 2013 at the Plainview First Baptist Church with Joe Yates officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville.

Violet Irleen "Butterfly" Potter

Violet Irleen "Butterfly" Potter, age 93, of Bluffton passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville.

She was born January 26, 1923 in Bluffton, Arkansas to Joseph Henry & Violet Belle Benefield May. She was very involved in church, community and school. Her home was a gathering place for young people in the community. She was an Avon representative and was employed by the Fourche Valley School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyce "Doc" W. Potter; daughter, Mariam Gail Potter; a sister Beatrice Neighbors and brother, Joseph L R May.

Survivors include her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Douglas, Katrina Bromley Potter and Kyrie Alice Potter of Fayetteville; niece, Dr. Jo Harper; great nephew, Dr. Mitchell Harper of Fort Smith; and great niece Kimberly White of Texas.

Funeral service was December 31, 2016 at the Bluffton United Methodist Church, presided by Pastor Dan Osolin. Private burial at Bluffton Cemetery.
