Dr. Cunningham

Dr. Benjamin Lee Cunningham, 86, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, July 20.

He was the grandson of Dr. B.F. Chandler, a pioneer physician.

A retired physician and planter, Dr. Cunningham was a native of Dardanelle, son of the late George W. and Bennie Chandler Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Cole Cunningham.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.

Pallbearers: Active - George Phillips, Frank Phillips, Fred Phillips, George Upton Jr., Ed Love, Dana Merritt, B.B. Blelvins and Walter Miller.

Biddie Cunningham

Biddie Cunningham age 73 of Belleville passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Mitchell's Nursing Home.

She was born June 17, 1937 in Blue Ball, AR to the late Cilvie Finus Monroe "Jack" & Louvada Black Garner.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy Joe Cunningham; brother Udale Garner; nephew Ronnie Garner.

Survivors include her children & spouses, Billy Hale of Belleville; James Hale of Danville; Donny & Sherri Hale of Gainesville, Florida; Jimmy Hale of Sheridan; Johnny Cunningham of Judsonia; Tammy Greer & Michael Patterson of Pottsville; Michael Cunningham of Belleville; brother Willie Jay Garner of Little Rock; sisters & brothers-in-law Dorothy & Duane Knapp of Heber Spring; Sylvia & Clint West of Russellville; 5 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren and 6 nephews.

Pallbearers include Mike Patterson, Greg West, Antonio Hernandez Vasquez, Steven Heathman, Justin Hale and Mike Cunningham.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Danville Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clayton Sheets officiating. Burial will be at Hunt Cemetery in Blue Ball. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. before service.

Debra Kay Cunningham

Debra Kay Cunningham, age 59, of Plainview died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at her home. She was born December 23, 1957, at Danville to Jewel Leatho and Mildred Wilmatene Keener Cunningham. She was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her father, J.L. "Smokey" Cunningham; brother, Mike Cunningham and one nephew, Lance Cunningham.

Survivors include her mother, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview; one brother, Jimmy Cunningham of Hampton; two sisters, Linda Spencer and husband Gary of Plainview, Pam Dixon and husband Steve of Russellville; special nephew, Carter Cunningham; close friend, Terry Brown; six nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Plainview Church of Christ with Bro. Tommy Oakes officiating.

MRS. ETHEL CUNNINGHAM

Mrs. Ethel Cole Cunningham, 96, Dardanelle, died Monday, Jan. 1, at the Dardanelle Hospital.

She was a native of Dardanelle, a daughter of the late George and Frankie Love Cole, and the widow of Dr. Ben Cunningham. Mrs. Cunningham was the first woman from Yell County to be elected to public office. She served two terms in the state legislature and was on the board of trustees for Arkansas Polytechnic College, now Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, 16 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Cunningham is one sister, Mrs. William Doan, Dardanelle.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cornwell Chapel with the Rev. Ray Edwards officiating. Burial was at Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.

Flavel C. "Budgie" Cunningham

Flavel Charles (Budgie) Cunningham passed away at the Ola Nursing Home on February 17, 2015. He was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ and was retired from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. He was born September 11, 1920 to the late Ervin and Mae Cunningham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Author Lloyd Cunningham, Smokey Cunningham; one sister, Lorene Farris; two nephews, Jerry Farris and Larry Farris; two great nephews, Lance Cunningham and Robbie Crawford.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the "Signal Corp" during the war.

Survivors include one sister, Willene and husband, Hoyt Dale of Plainview; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Cunningham and Fretta Cunningham, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Plainview Church of Christ. Visitation was held Saturday, 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the church prior to the service. Burial was at Salem Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rickey Crawford, Randy Crawford, David Spencer, Todd Spencer, Bryan Robinson, Bobby Robinson, Brad Humphreys, Gary Cunningham and Ronald Bradford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plainview Cnurch of Christ Building Fund.

Fretta Cunningham

Fretta Cunningham, 90, of Plainview, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and V. J. Cunningham of Booneville and Kerry Cunningham of Bakersfield, California; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Rochelle of Plainview; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nephews and nieces; and her second family, the loving and caring staff of Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation.

The funeral was Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Plainview Church of Christ, with burial in the Salem Cemetery near Plainview, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Mr. J. M. CUNNINGHAM

Mr. Jesse Matthew Cunningham, aged 66 years, died in a Russellville hospital Monday, May 7th, 1951, after a long illness. Mr. Cunningham fell at his home and had been in the hospital several months. He was the son of the late E. W. and Mary Howell Cunningham, early settlers of Dardanelle. His mother was the first baby girl born in Dardanelle and his great grandfather, the late Dr. Matthew C. Cunningham, was the first mayor of Little Rock.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Maude Poole Cunningham, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Liezette Nolen, and a brother, Robert H. Cunningham, all of Dardanelle.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p. m., Wednesday in the Cornwell Funeral Home by the Rev. Elmus C. Brown, pastor of the First Methodist Church, and the Rev. M. O. Cockerham, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Brearley cemetery.

Margie Rada (Mullings) Blagg Cunningham

Services for Mrs. Margie Rada Cunningham, 78, of 125 Cottonwood, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Cunningham died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday in Bivins Nursing Center in Amarillo.

A native of Pinebluff, Ark., she had been a resident of Borger for 53 years. She was a retired dispatcher for Cunningham Cab Co., a member of Bible Baptist Church, and lifetime member of Kilowatt Home Demonstration Club.

Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, V.I. "Nig" Cunningham in 1976, and a son, Blackie Blagg in 1981.

Survivors include two sons, W.H. Blagg and W.K. Blagg, both of Snyder; three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Martin and Mrs. Jean McCarty, both of Amarillo, and Mrs. Ethel Mayer of Pampa; two sisters, Mrs. Meda Mason of Borger, and Mrs. Renda Jones of Orange; one brother, Raymond Mullings of Abilene; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mike Cunningham

Michael Charles Cunningham, age 59, of Plainview died Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

He was born September 25, 1953 at Russellville to J.L. "Smokey" and Mildred Cunningham. He attended the Plainview Church of Christ. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and watching his grandkids play sports.

He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Lance Cunningham.

Survivors include his daughter, Shanna Cunningham of Russellville; mother, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview; one brother, Jimmy Cunningham and wife Kerry; three sisters, Debbie Cunningham, Linda Spencer and husband Gary all of Plainview, Pam Dixon and husband Steve of Russellville; two grandchildren, Jacee Richards of Russellville, Carter Cunningham of Plainview and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was November 16, 2012 at the Plainview Church of Christ with Bro. Butch Gossett officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Plainview.

Pallbearers were Todd Spencer, David Spencer, Cameron Spencer, Andrew Dixon, Terry Brown, Jimmy Cunningham, Steve Dixon, Gary Don Spencer, and Gary Slick Westlake.

R. C. CUNNINGHAM

Mr. Robert Chandler Cunningham, aged 66 years, operator of the Caddo Hotel in Arkadelphia, and for years a resident of Dardanelle, died at his home in Arkadelphia Sunday. He was a member of one of the State's oldest families, and a great-grandson of Dr. Matthew Cunningham, first Mayor of Little Rock. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Baptist Church. He was born at Clarksville, son of the late Judge George S. and Bennie Chandler Cunningham. He was educated in Dardanelle and at the University of Tennessee, where he graduated in dentistry. He was married March 10, 1915, to Miss Mattie Crow, of Arkadelphia. They made their home in this city for a number of years, later moving to Little Rock. Twe've years ago they moved to Arkadelphia, where they have since resided.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife: a daughter, Mrs. Robert D. Lowry, of Jackson, Miss.; a son, R. C. Cunningham, Jr., ensign in the U. S. Navy; and two brothes, Dr. Benjamin L. Cunningham, of Little Rock, and C. A. Cunningham, of Blytheville.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Murray funeral church, Arkadelphia, by Dr. P. F. Naylor. Burial was in the Arkadelphia Cemetery.
